Michael Amante is a celebrated American singer and stage actor whose voice and presence has captivated audiences and critics around the world. He sings a repertoire that ranges from Broadway, American Standards, Gospel and Jazz to the soaring notes of High Opera. He has been called “The People’s Tenor”, been billed as “the Prince of High C’s”, and even “the Next Mario Lanza” by singing legend Tony Bennett. He has received praise from singing icons Luciano Pavarotti and Franco Corelli for his natural tenor range. In 2001 Michael secured a recording contract with RCA/Victor records and his debut recording of classical songs and arias placed him as the number one artist in Billboard Magazine’s classical charts in 2002. His self-titled PBS Television Special was nominated for a regional Emmy Award.
Michael’s stage appearances have included leading roles in West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Lil Abner, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly and La Bohéme, Cavaleria Rusticana and the American “Freddie” in an upcoming 2014 production of the musical Chess. His live concerts with some of the nation’s best symphonies also include music from The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Rigoletto, I Pagliacci, Italian classics and standards from the great American Songbook.
On the larger scale, Michael has sung to capacity crowds of 80,000 plus at Giant Stadium for season opening Giants' games as well as by invitation from the US Soccer Team playing various events that included the FIFA World Cup. He has been known as "the Voice of the Mets" singing opening and playoff games at the former Shea Stadium and current Citi-Field for sold-out programs. He has also performed nationally for the New York Rangers, the New York Knicks, the US Open Tennis Championships and the Eastern Conference of the Women’s College Basketball League. He has been internationally broadcast on syndicated radio programs including Sirius Radio, National Public Radio and the Voice Of America.
Michael’s memorable command performances to countless dignitaries include former US Presidents Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Pope John Paul II, Luciano Pavarotti and Julia Roberts to name a few. He has appeared on dozens of Television shows including “Live with Regis Philbin,” ABC’s “The View,” “The Tony Danza Show,” and “Emeril Live.” His release of Patriotic songs titled “Amante Salutes America” financially supports his local chapter of Disabled American Veterans and he continues to support their efforts with live concerts and appearances throughout the continental United States. He continues to perform for SOLD OUT audiences including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City’s Town Hall, and numerous Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos like Caesar’s Palace and The Sands as well as Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and The Hard Rock Café in Florida.
Prior to his first recording album, Amante was tenured as a Crisis Intervention Counselor for emotionally handicapped and socially maladjusted children in central New York. He later pursued an advanced degree in music and fine arts, which led him to New York City as a Senior Graphic Designer for Ernst & Young’s corporate headquarters located in Manhattan. He learned his love for the arts and romance from the old world ethics and values of his parents, married since 1946.
